At there MASA show, there is really no "placing", no 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Basically people vote on the 3 kits they like the best out of all of the cars, and the ones with the top 10 votes get a plaque...but in no particular order, so no one really knows (other than those that count the votes) who got the most votes.
Shearwater has a Master's class, if you have won with your kit before, then you can enter it again, but in the master's class, however, I don't agree with any kits being in the Master's class, being eligible for Best In Show award. Case in point, in 2008, Ian Moore won Best In Show for his 1/350 Russian Kuztenov. At the 2009 show he brought it again, and entered it into the Master's class, and again, because it got the most votes overall, was awarded Best In Show. Didn't really think that was fair, and don't think that kits in the Master's Class should be eligible for Best In Show. However, Shearwater isn't my local show, and I have nothing to do with the rules or organizing, they can run their show how they would like, just an opinion.
Not taking anything away from Ian Moore's ship, it was awesome.....but to win Best In Show 2 yrs in a row.....I don't think was right, and it should have gone to the kit with the most votes outside of the Master's class, whatever that would have been, and given someone else a chance. Theoretically, you could enter the same kit year after year in Master's and win Best In Show year after year if the votes fall your way.
For me, I have no idea what I am going to build. Would love to do the Tamiya Porsche Carrera GT, but don't think I would have the time left to devote to what I want to do to it. There is the Audi R10 and R8, however I have PE for both of them. So it may come down to the Fujimi '67 911R Coupe, would kill 2 birds with one stone for both CAMS and MASA. However along with that, I want to build a Challenger for the CAMS theme, Spitfire for Norm's build, and finish the French UE Carrier also for a CAMS theme.
